Description of Operation
- The garbage chute is designed to handle a normal-size trash bag – one per transaction.
- The trash chute is NOT designed to handle commercial-type trash such as concrete, wood, and other types of building materials. Materials such as these can cause clogging or damage to the trash chute system.
- The trash chute is also NOT designed for residential garbage such as rugs, pizza boxes, large cardboard boxes that do not fit into a normal-size trash bag.
- Additionally, pillows, furniture, ironing boards, or other types of residential waste that exceed the size of a standard trash bag are prohibited in the chute disposal system.
- These items can cause clogging and severe malfunction in the chute system.
Operation of Trash Chute Doors
- Operate the handle to open the intake door.
- Check whether the door is fully opened.
- Deposit trash in the open area of the trash chute door.
- Release the door — it will automatically shut.
Locking of Trash Chute Doors
Most garbage chutes are furnished with an interlocking system.
The trash chute is equipped with Electrical Interlock (EI) doors. This system is designed to allow only one (1) user access to the trash chute at a time. Once a trash chute door is opened, the remaining trash chute doors “lock out” and will not unlock until the opened door is returned to the closed position.
All doors can also be locked manually as a safety measure during cleaning or when the garbage trolley is being moved or replaced. This function can be activated through the lock button on the Control Panel.
